A Sailing Boat off St Malo
Shipping - and fishing - are the lifeblood of St Malo, and all kinds of craft are to be encountered at the entrance to its harbour. Here a replica sailing ship, complete with a couple of cannon either side, heads out to sea. Beyond, on its rocky promontory, stands the Fort National, which dates from 1689. This can be reached on foot at low tide.
